Beach] and Robert LeFevre. As a community activist John successfully sued the City of Huntington Beach for violation of the US
Constitution and California Law when the Mayor turned off his microphone during a speech before the City Council. In his
first try for office, he was elected in November 2006, third of the top 3 of 5 candidates.
Mark
Dierolf, Hartnell Community College District Board of Trustees, Salinas, Monterey County. He was first elected in November 1993; re-Elected November 1997; re-elected November 2001, first of 2 candidates. He chose not to run again in 2005. Mark served as Board President twice and survived a recall attempt. He is the 21st known California Libertarian elected to public office. Quote: "Never compromise your principles."
Jonathan Hall, Tehachapi Cummings County Water District Board Member, Tehachapi, Kern County. As a first time candidate, he was elected in November 2006, beating the incumbent by a 20% margin. He was asked to volunteer, both by local community leaders and as part of last year's Operation Breakthrough. Receiving strong support from local Democrats, he says he has a "can't miss strategy". Director, San Mateo, San Mateo County. Jack was first elected in November 2002, third of top 3 of 9 candidates; re-elected November 2006,
third of top 3 of 4 in a close race. The District provides no actual health care, and Jack is trying to shut it down.
Frank Manske, Mount Diablo Health Board District Board Member, Concord, Contra Costa County. Frank has a long history as a Libertarian candidate in Contra Costa County. In this, his first success, Frank was elected in November 2004, third of the top 3 of 6 candidates. This is another District that provides no actual health care, with Frank trying to shut it down.
Kate Obrien, Rancho Simi Park District, Simi Valley, Ventura County. She was first elected in November 2000, third of top 3 of 5, by the squeaker margin of 3 votes (!!). She was re-elected in November 2004,
first of top 3 of 5 by a wide margin. What did she do to make this happen?
